What is Potenza™?

Potenza™ (Cynosure, Massachusetts, USA) is a USA FDA approved Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling device. The treatment uses insulated gold microneedles which emit radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen remodelling and production in the skin.
Using RF energy will trigger our body’s natural response to create an increased level of collagen and elastin production, resulting in an enhanced skin revitalization treatment versus microneedling alone.
Potenza™ is the world’s first Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling treatment that combines both monopolar and bipolar RF at 1 or 2MHz frequencies in a single device, taking RF Microneedling to new levels.

Each Potenza treatment session typically take around 20 – 30min, depending on treatment area.

An improvement in skin quality can be seen as early as 1 week after the treatment, with best results seen 1-2 months after the full treatment and lasting for 1-2 years (or more with diligent skincare).

For best results, 3 to 6 treatment sessions spaced 1 month apart are recommended.

Though the advantage of Potenza™ compared to a laser treatment is that it can be performed on any skin type, anywhere on the body, anytime of the year.
Absolute contraindications for the treatment include:

  1. Pacemaker
  2. Keloid formation
  3. Active skin infection

You will experience a light pricking sensation which most patients describe as almost painless. As pain tolerance vary among individuals, our doctors may apply anaesthetic cream to make the procedure more comfortable.

There is minimal downtime and you can resume your normal activities immediately, though after treatment your face may be red and feels tight. You will be given a recovery serum to use for the next 3 days together with moisturizer and sunblock. Most patients report that their skin returns to normal after 3-5 days.

Potenza™ is generally considered to be a safe procedure with minor and mild temporary effects.
Immediately after the procedure, there might be some slight bruising, pain and swelling around the treated areas, but these are merely temporary and will heal quickly.
