What is Juvéderm®?

Juvéderm® Fillers are produced by Allergan, which is a leader in aesthetic injectables and is US FDA approved for cosmetic treatments.

There are several products in the Juvéderm® family. They all are used to help people address the facial signs of aging. Each product in the Juvéderm® line features different bonding and concentrations of hyaluronic acid. The different products are each tailored to target specific problems when injected into different areas and depths. Juvéderm® fillers have a smooth, gel-like consistency.

Juvéderm® Voluma is most commonly used to add volume to deep areas of the face, such as the upper cheekbones and the nasolabial folds on occasion.
Juvéderm® Volift is intended for use in more superficial areas and for patients with thinner skin.

Juvéderm® Volbella is usually use in delicate areas such as the lips and, on rare occasions, under the eyes.

What Are Facial Fillers?

Facial fillers are injectable treatments used to address signs of aging by restoring volume, smoothing wrinkles, and enhancing facial contours. These fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin that helps maintain hydration and elasticity.

There are different types of facial fillers, each with varying bonding and concentrations of hyaluronic acid. These differences allow them to target specific concerns based on the treatment area and depth of injection. Facial fillers have a smooth, gel-like consistency and are commonly used for facial rejuvenation.

  • Volumizing Fillers – Used to restore lost volume in deeper areas of the face, such as the cheekbones and nasolabial folds.
  • Superficial Fillers – Designed for more delicate areas and for individuals with thinner skin.
  • Lip & Eye Fillers – Typically used for lip enhancement and, in some cases, to improve the appearance of under-eye hollows.

How does Juvéderm® work?

Juvéderm® adds volume to the facial tissue by using hyaluronic acid as its active ingredient. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance in the body that promotes the growth of connective tissue, which plumps the skin (collagen). The fillers are injected beneath the skin to fill the dermis’ soft tissue.
The HA instantly provides volume to the face tissues, reducing the appearance of fine lines and facial folds. The fillers are broken down by the body and eventually disappear.

When injected beneath the skin, these fillers provide instant volume, smoothing fine lines and reducing the appearance of facial folds. Over time, the body gradually breaks down the filler, and its effects naturally fade.
